Book review: The lemon orchard

 The lemon orchard is a story that was writen by alex la guma in 1962, he wrote this story to stop the racism that was in Africa.

 The story is about a coloured man that is being treated badly in a lemon orchard. The whites are the ones that  are discriminating this poor man, in the journey they hit him and they threaten him. In the lemon orchard elements of nature are described with human elements, for example the moon is in a way scared of what is going to happen so it covers itself with the clouds.

The coloured man is an intelligent and educated teacher while the whites were arrogant, aggresive and demandant. The coloured is a good person but just because of the colour of his skin he is kidnapped.

 The characters represent all the coloured men and white people in those times, so I think that author made a very good job in this story. The plot is very sad because it is hard to believe how people treat a coloured man. I totally recommend this book because the message it contains is very deep.
